II Trail Pastores de Portudera

II Trail Pastores de Portudera

The April 12 will take place at II edition of the Trail of Los Pastores de Portudera, a tribute deserved to the shepherds and shepherds of Cabrales that today haunt the 90 years.
This trail has managed to make a place in the agenda of a large majority of athletes who value the route that runs through the unique landscape of the Picos de Europa.

This year 2015 the route increases, they are 26 km and the cumulative difference rises to 5.000 meters. Also this year the circuit is added a new loop through the flock of Vierru, where they still remain the only two shepherds who make cheese in the area. Once there, we climb back to Tordín through the beech forest of the table to face the vertiginous descent of Calluenga.

It is expected that again many people will come by Cabrales with this excuse, like last year. Portudera presumes to be the natural habitat of the people that today inhabit Arenas de Cabrales. Rubén Carbajal, director of the race, has wanted for years to trace in his entrails a majestic mountain race crossing all the sheepfolds or pastures, formerly inhabited in the area, to pay homage to his ancestors.
A day earlier, on Saturday 11 day of April will be the day of Vertical Subisomes Kilometer, this test last year aroused much interest among the more than 100 runners who met.
