Seven Asturian beaches obtain this year the "Q" of tourist quality.
The Institute for the Spanish Tourist Quality (ICTE) has awarded the "Q" flags of tourist quality this year to the beaches of:
San Pedro de la Ribera in Cudillero
The Chambers-Palombina, Celorio and Toró in Llanes
Santa Marina in Ribadesella
Poniente, San Lorenzo and El Arbeyal in Gijón.
In total the beaches and yacht clubs distinguished in 2012 with the flags are part of 81 city councils and nine autonomous communities, among which Andalusia stands out, with 58 certified beaches, followed by the Valencian Community, with 45; Murcia, with 25, and Catalonia with 20. They are followed by Galicia, with 9 certified beaches; Asturias, with 7; Cantabria, with 4; Baleares, with 3, and Ceuta, with 2.
All of them comply with the requirements of the UNE standard in their sector, associated with the "Q" Mark for Tourist Quality, which, in the case of beaches, refers to both equipment and cleaning, safety, rescue and information . The twelve certified nautical-sports facilities are also accredited as guarantors of a quality system.
