On Saturday 17 in November a new entity was presented in Ribadesella, citizen platform SOS Plaza de Abastos, a collective emerged to prevent the demolition of the building. Yolanda Cerra Bada, a riosellana philologist and anthropologist who chairs the Asturian Association of Anthropology and Ethnological Heritage, also participated in the presentation ceremony. The platform will request to the Municipal Corporation the maintenance of the building in the town planning catalog of the council and in parallel the procedures will begin to request their inclusion in the Inventory of Cultural Heritage of the Principality of Asturias. The platform will commission a technical report with which to endorse that request, "because our place is not a threat but an opportunity".
For next December 29, the platform has scheduled a double informative session that will include the screening of a documentary made by Pablo Casanueva and a lecture by the Doctor in History of Art, Mónica García Cuetos. After this event, which intends to be organized at the Tito Bustillo Rock Art Center, a public call will be held to provide ideas on the future uses of the building built in 1940.
