The cachopo is fashionable, and not only here in Asturias, it is a specialty that has been exported with great success outside the borders of the principality.
Between the 12 and the 22 of May of 2016 will take place the III Regional Championship of Cachopos and Cachopines of Asturias, organized by regional newspaper El Comercio.
This year 107 establishments are participating, 51 local Gijón, venue of the event, 22 Oviedo and downtown area, one of Carreño, two of Gozón, eight of Avilés and comarca, two of the basins, seven of the East and 14 of West.
There will be two categories: the traditional cachope, which will cost 17 euros and may be shared, and the cachopín with a cheaper price, of 6 euros, although it will only be served at the bar, with a format for individual consumption.
Those who taste them will be able to vote through the social networks the cachopos that they consider better, participating as well as popular jury (The most voted will be a special prize at the end). Of the participating establishments will be ten finalists, who will participate in the final test. A professional jury will be responsible, in a blind tasting, to choose the winners of the two categories.
