The beach of Xagó is a rugged place with a great cove of 2 kilometers long whose main focus is its ecological interest and its wide offer of beach activities.
This beach is also part of the protected reserve of the central coast dominated by high cliffs, where each beach is a unique gift for our eyes. This particular beach of Xagó is located on the western side of the Cape Peñas, in a rocky littoral. Thanks to the sea erosion this beach has been formed with a spectacular whole of dunes, with more than 350.000 square meters of surface.

The beach of Xagó is also the best preserved in this region.
One can get to this beach in any season to walk, relax, run by the beach shore, enjoy fresh colors, admire its different blues, greens and ochers, the sparkles of light on the sea, definitely any reason is good to enjoy the sensory life of this beach
Although this is located at 6 kilometers from the city of Avilés, this is the most western beach of the council of Gozón. The peninsula of San Juan de Nieva separates it from the Avilés'ria. The Black Cape, whose name comes from the dark slates that form it, closes this beach by the East side.
Its great length allows us to enjoy it even in summer days when it is more crowded. At dawn, on the sea shore we can see a big number of fishermen, since this is a famous beach for its sea basses.
Three fields of dunes form Xagó. They have a soft profile with dunes resembling pyramids where a sort of plant is very characterized in this area, the one called Arenaria Ammophila. Apart from the dunes, on this beach, we can also find a couple of interior lagoons that are the perfect habitat for many species.
Xagó is cited in all naturist guides of all Spain, where we can practise nudism in some of its dune areas.
This beach is also famous among surfers thanks to its high waves on its both extremes. Every year it is more crowded by surfers who test and prepare themselves for competitions. This beach is located closely to other surfing points such as Avilés or Salinas. Take a look to the best surf beaches of Asturias.
Due to its physiognomy open to sea, the force of its waves makes the swimming be captious.
From the high cliffs of the area of the Black Cape, we can practice paragliding. But if we are not brave enough, we can spend a nice time watching people who are practicing it.
