    2017 Museum Day at the Tito Bustillo Rock Art Center

    The Rock Art Center of Tito Bustillo celebrates Museum Day with free admission on 18 and 20 and 21 in May. On the weekend there will also be guided visits to the permanent exhibition and workshops to learn about the work in an "Archaeological Laboratory". These activities are free and without prior reservation.

    - Guided visits to the permanent exhibition
    May 18, 17: 00 h.
    20 and 21 for May, 13: 00 and 17: 30 h.
    Duration: 45 min. approximately.

    - Archaeological Laboratory Workshop:
    The days 20 and 21 of May, to the 12: 00 hours session for children between 6 and 11 years; to the 16: 30 session for family audience with children from 4 years.
    Would you know how to differentiate between a bone tool and a leather tool? And between a flint and a quartzite one? In this workshop we discover the laboratory work and learn the methodology to classify and study the materials of Prehistory. You can see up close and even touch authentic museum pieces.
    Duration: 45 me.
    Places: 20 people per workshop.
    The places will be assigned in order of arrival.

    The Jurassic Museum of Asturias It also celebrates Museum Day with free admission and activities on 18, 20 and 21 days in May.
    During the weekend you can also visit the temporary exhibition "When the earth trembles: volcanoes and earthquakes".

    - Guided visit to the permanent exhibition.
    A tour to learn about the reptiles that inhabited Asturias millions of years ago.
    May 18, 13: 00 and 16: 30 h
    20 and 21 for May, 13: 00 and 17: 30 h.
    Places: 50 people per pass.
    Duration: 1 hour approximately.
    The Museum can also be visited freely.

    - Visit to laboratories and lithotheques with the scientific team.
    The Museum's Scientific Team opens the doors to its workplace, one of the few opportunities to get to know this part of the Museum that only our scientists have access to.

    Places: 20 people per session.

    - Temporary exhibition When the Earth Shakes: Volcanoes and Earthquakes
    20 and 21 for May, from 11: 30 to 14: 30 and 16: 30 to 19: 00 h.
    This temporary sample offers accurate information about the energy of the Earth so that visitors know and understand these natural phenomena: volcanoes and earthquakes.

    - Jurassic micro-workshops

    Through different activities of 30 minutes of duration, you will learn a lot about dinosaurs.

    11: 30 h. In the skin of a dinosaur.
    We will create a fossil of the skin of a dinosaur from which you will discover what its original texture would look like, if it had scales, if it was covered with feathers, etc.
    Children's public from 4 to 11 years.
    Places: 20 people per session.

    12: 15 h. Knowing the Coast of the Dinosaurs.
    On a tour of the Garden of the Museum we will discover the types of dinosaurs that lived in the Jurassic Asturias, we will know what footprints they left, we will learn to interpret them and finally we will put ourselves in the shoes of a "true paleontologist" in the outside sandbox.

    17: 15 h. Paleontologist for a day.
    We will look for fossils in sandboxes helped by different tools. We will also analyze their main characteristics and try to identify which animals they belonged to.
    Children's public from 4 to 11 years.

    18: 00 h. Volcanic eruption.
    With simple scientific experiments, we will discover the parts of a volcano and how they erupt.

    Audiovisual broadcast "The work of the scientific team"
    It will be screened continuously in the Auditorium, during the opening hours of the Museum.
