On January 19, the 34º Afuega'l Pitu Cheese Contest will take place. In this contest, already classic, involved processors from all over Asturias who will present the two varieties of this cheese with Denomination of Origin blancu and roxu.

11: 30 hours:
· Official opening of the contest by the mayor D. Jesús Álvarez Barbao, mayor of Morcín.
· Exhibition of crafts in the workshop La Zuela.
· Sale and demonstration of the elaboration of casadielles by the students of the School of the Guild of Artisan Confectioners of Asturias.
· Solemn religious function.
11: 45 hours:
Public demonstration of the elaboration of Afuega'l Pitu by Margarita Mier, artisan of Morcín.
12: 30 hours: Monte Areo de Carreño rural sport exhibition.
13: 00 hours: Delivery of the "Quesero Mayor de Asturias" award to the cheese factories: Quesera del Cares and Vega de Tordín de Cabrales, in solidarity with the entire cheese industry due to the catastrophe suffered a year ago.
13: 15 hours: Award ceremony «Afuega'l Pitu de Oro» to the El Corral del Indianu restaurant, in Arriondas, in the person of Mr. José Antonio Campoviejo, for his constant promotion of the Asturian cheeses and especially Afuega'l Pitu.
13: 30 hours: Pregón of the contest, pronounced by Don Lluis Nel Estarda, gastronomic consultant.
13: 45 hours: Awarding of prizes to processors of Afuega'l Pitu awarded in the varieties of «roxu de trapu», «blancu de trapu», «atroncáu roxu» and «atroncáu blancu».
14: 00 hours: Public auction of the awarded cheeses.
14: 10 hours: Awards ceremony of the "Los Nabos en la Cocina" Contest, organized by the Amigos de los Nabos Association and the IES Valle Aller School of Catering.
14: 15 hours: Delivery of «Nabu de Plata» to Sergio Menéndez García, from Villar, farmer.
